Is advertising killing blogging?

Originally titled "Blogging where the personal and commercial meet" I'd like to explore how blogs have largely sold out to commercial interests. Or have they?

Are you a sell out? A shill for AdSense? Part of the problem? Are you and your credibility for sale?

Or are you a hold out? Keeping your blog pristine and ad free? In it simply for the love of expression?

In a panel full of both experienced and beginning bloggers, we'll explore how bloggers deal with commercial interests in their personal spaces. My hope is we all get a chance to talk about how we negotiate the personal and the commercial, and what works for each of us.

Attendess will leave the session with:

  • a list of basic rules of engagement for bloggers and marketers
  • tips on how to smell the bullshit
  • a better understanding of terms like 'astroturfing,' and 'greenwashing'
  • 'war stories' from both bloggers and marketers about extraordinary situations they've experienced
  • examples of how other bloggers have found the best balance for themselves.
